What Is Octyl Gallate?
Octyl Gallate, known in Chinese as octyl gallate, is an antioxidant. It is an ester compound produced by reacting gallic acid with octyl alcohol. Its chemical structure formula is C15H22O5. Due to its good antioxidant properties, Octyl Gallate is widely used in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
Octyl gallate is a gallate ester obtained by condensation of the carboxy group of gallic acid with the hydroxy group of octanol. It has a role as a food antioxidant, a plant metabolite and a hypoglycemic agent.
