What is Honokiol?
Honokiol is tan to white fine powder, aromatic, spicy, slightly bitter. Monomers are colorless scaly crystals. Soluble in general organic solvents, easily soluble in benzene, ether, chloroform, ethanol, etc., insoluble in water. It reacts with ferric chloride in chloroform to become blue. Reaction with ferric chloride methanol solution, blue black. Reaction with Millon reagent, now brown precipitate. Reaction with phloroglucinol hydrochloric acid solution shows red precipitation.
