What Is Calcium Ascorbate?

Calcium Ascorbate is a salt form of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), formed by combining ascorbic acid with calcium. It is commonly used as a dietary supplement for vitamin C, possessing similar biological activity to ascorbic acid. However, compared to ascorbic acid, it has a lower acidity, making it easier to be absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract without causing gastric discomfort. Calcium Ascorbate is also utilized as an antioxidant and preservative in food and beverages.

Product Applications
 

It can be used as a preservative for fruits and vegetables, and as an antioxidant for ham, meat and buckwheat flour. As a non-ionic surface activator and nutrient for skin care and hair. Used as a fungicide for lens cleaning. As a calcium salt, it can also prevent osteoporosis and lower blood pressure when used in tea and drinks. The results also show that Vc-Ca prevents the synthesis of DNA of cancer cells, has an inhibitory effect on malignant tumors, and can be used in the clinical adjuvant treatment of cancer. 

1. Used to keep food fresh and prevent protein deterioration. 

In fresh foods such as fish and meat, protein spoilage can affect the freshness and taste of the food, so it is necessary to prevent protein spoilage during transportation and storage. The refrigerator can keep food fresh, but the effect of preventing protein spoilage is not good. Preservants containing Vc-Ca can prevent the spoilage of proteins contained in fresh foods, such as fish and meat, and their spoilage prevention and freshness retention effects are not limited by contact methods.

More than 300 metabolic mechanisms involving Vc have been identified, including antiscorbutic effects first observed by Dr. Robert lind in 1940, and the recent discovery of antioxidant radical scavenging. Its clinical effects have been widely recognized, so there is no doubt about the establishment and maintenance of effective concentrations of Vc and its derivatives in the human body. However, people lack the synthetic liver enzyme Vc, so the required Vc must be taken with food. He found a mixture consisting of a compound with Vc efficacy and at least one compound selected from L-threonine, L-lignoic acid, L-lythreonic acid food salt, and aldone lactonic acid. This blend can establish high levels and concentrations of Vc in the human body, while also improving the body's tolerance to Vc and allowing the body to absorb and retain VC-derived syntheses more efficiently. 

3 Supplement the organism with calcium.
