What is Zeaxanthin?
Zeaxanthin is a carotenoid, which belongs to the isoprenoid group of oxygen-containing carotenoids and is a dihydroxy derivative of -carotene . It is widely found in nature, especially in plant tissues such as green leafy vegetables, fruits, lycium barbarum, and yellow corn.

1. Antioxidant effect : Zeaxanthin neutralizes free radicals, reduces oxidative stress, and protects cells from damage. The conjugated double bond system in its molecular structure gives it a strong antioxidant activity.
2. Vision protection : Zeaxanthin helps protect the macular area of the eye, preventing eye diseases such as macular degeneration. It specifically absorbs blue light, which is most damaging to the retina, thereby protecting cones in the fovea.
